power of story doula services

Let’s change the story we’ve been told about childbirth.

I am a full spectrum doula and a student of Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings, a Black-owned, queer-run doula training organization that approaches birth work with a justice-based lens.

Serving families in Los Angeles — primarily the San Fernando Valley — and prioritizing BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) and queer birthing people, my services currently encompass pregnancy, birth, and postpartum advocacy, education, and support, as well as presence and care through abortion and child loss.

Why should you hire a doula?

The United States ranks the highest in maternal mortality in comparison to other high-income nations — and Black women in this country are at the greatest risk. Having the support, care, and advocacy of a trained birth worker, like a doula, has been proven to improve outcomes.

From the moment we become cognizant of the world around us, we’re subjected to competing, overlapping, noisy narratives about pregnancy and birth – stereotypes and fear-mongering that disrupt, obscure, and unnecessarily complicate this natural process. My mission is to demystify this journey and lovingly empower families to step into the story they want to tell about their precious, sacred babies’ entrance into this world. Life is unexpected and nothing is guaranteed, but we have all of the knowledge we need — the power to create a new story about birth. I want to help you find it.

TESTIMONIAL

I think the most helpful thing about our sessions was the supplemental information I was able to receive and the perspective offered from a professional that’s not necessarily only reliant on science. I appreciate the fact that I was also able to contact you during my inductions to vent and also get some insight as to what would have been happening next and what questions to ask. I was also able to ask about concerns as they came up while I was in labor.

Creating the birth plan with you really came in handy because I was able to explain to the nurses how I preferred things to go and let them know what made me comfortable. I knew about a birth plan but you really helped me solidify it and I was more aware of what was to come.

From my experience with you I feel like everything was handled exceptionally. Considering we met at the end of my pregnancy, I still feel like you were very helpful and hands on with me being a first time mom. Since it was virtual I appreciate how it was easy to contact you and you were very transparent if there was something that stopped you from responding right back.
